          I, too, sing America

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But i laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I'll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody'll dare
Say to me,
"Eat in the kitchen,"
Then.

Besides,
They'll see how beautiful i am
And be ashamed--

Imagery: When i first looked at this poem i could really visualize when Langston Hughes says,"I am the darker brother." I saw a black man sitting at the table of a wealthy white family showing them that he is in America the land of the free too, and just because he is colored that shouldnt have to change.

Sound Device: "But i laugh" I found it as a euphony, a big colored man laughing when someone tells him he cant do something. He was a go getter, he wasnt going to let color get in his way!

Figures of speech: "I am the dark brother" this phrase is an hyperbole because he is comparing hiself to the family of white folk and the table that he is sitting at.
